Notice none of these Success Secrets are about lead generation, referrals or anything about putting together a loan application. The “how to” generate leads, referrals and put together loan applications can be achieved when you focus on the Five Success Secrets.

Fundamentals come first, “how to” comes second.

If you only learn how to generate leads and ask for referrals, or only how to put together a loan application, but don’t have any confidence, no vision, no persistence. and you don’t leverage your time and don’t work hard. it won’t work. You won’t get the results.

Now if I had to rank these Five Success Secrets in order you should implement them in your business, they would be as follows:

  1. Vision – have a goal, dream or destination in mind. Without an end-point, you’re just working aimlessly and have no idea if you’re on track or not.
  2. Confidence – trust yourself and your knowledge to achieve your vision. Create processes to secure and build confidence. Get out there, do it, learn and improve – you won’t get confidence sitting on the side-lines.
  3. Leverage – yes, do this right from the start, it is more important that hard work and persistence. Leverage your time and focus on highest value tasks, get someone else to do the admin and repetitive work – otherwise it will bury you.
  4. Hard Work – work hard and smart on your vision, using leverage to get more achieved easier and faster. There’s no escaping hard work if you want success, but it shouldn’t feel “hard” if you enjoy it.
  5. Persistence – last is persistence, not because it’s least important, but I want you to have all the other things in place first. There’s no point persisting with a business with no vision, lack of confidence and no leverage… because you’ll just work yourself into the ground and have little to show for it in the end. Persist smartly!

Finally, yes, there are specific “how to” strategies the top performing mortgage brokers are using in addition to the Success Secrets revealed here, but they vary and are all different. The constant common traits of all successful brokers are the five fundamental traits I discussed in this Chapter. Once you implement and live by these secrets, the “how to” that works for you will follow.
